Book Review: Christ-Centered Exposition 1 & 2 Kings

1 2 KingsChrist-Centered Exposition: Exalting Jesus in 1 & 2 Kings by Tony Merida (series editors David Platt, Daniel Akin & Tony Merida) was my first venture into this new Bible commentary series.  The exposure to the commentary has resulted in me considering other volumes in the set for future studies in the Scriptures.

The volume lived up to its description of being Christ-centered (without shoe-horning Jesus into the texts), easy to read, scholarly, and faithful to the Bible.  The book gave plenty of application ideas without boxing in the reader to the author’s particular concepts of how the text could be applied in a 21st century context.

I look forward to exploring other volumes of this new up-and-coming commentary series.
