Making it Home: Finding My Way to Peace, Identity, and Purpose by Emily Wierenga is an honest memoir of her wrestling with her past and present on her way “home.” Her writing is flowing and vivid. The reader can almost smell the candles and picture the cozy moments and the moments of sorrow as though they were watching the author’s life rather than reading about the author’s life.
Making it Home would make a great book for a woman who is struggling for peace, identity, and purpose as a homemaker in a world that is ever demeaning to such a wonderful life choice. The book would be especially effective in helping a person looking for empathy in the midst of this search instead of a thick theological tome.
