I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”
As for the saints in the land,
They are the excellent ones,
In whom is all my delight.
King David wrote about his joy in the Lord. Yet he didn’t speak of his pleasure in just the vertical (David & God) but also in the horizontal (David and other people). Unfortunately, we don’t always have the same mentality and wisdom as King David. We either bribe our consciences to simply have a vertical relationship with God, or try to be content with only the horizontal human friendship. Living in either extreme will leave a person spiritually stunted and missing out in the true joy that the Lord has planned for a person.
